want/need

I am currently desperate for a long skirt. Not your usual jersey fitted type or a hippy, tiered type but one of those long, high-waisted slightly 50's style skirts in a sightly sheer fabric that drapes and swishes in all the right places. Here are few looks that I absolutely love involving said skirt in some form or another.

I've seen that Zara have a few of these skirts in at the moment like this one, but I'm just not sure any of them are perfect enough to warrant spending £30-£40 on. There is also the amazing American Apparel one but at £52 that really is a no-go. I'm hoping I will one day just happen upon one in a vintage/charity shop for a few pounds but until then I think I'll have to do without. Same for aviator jackets, until I find a reasonably priced, preferably vintage one somewhere I think I'm just going to have to steer clear for now. Is there a gorgeous A/W piece you're desperate for right now but just can't find at a reasonable price?

  1. Make one!! Wouldn't be too hard. How is Northumbria?? It was such a hard decision. The course looked amazing...and the people were really nice. Do you have the same people who innerviewed you as tutors? xx

  4. Haha I can imagine! God yeah it is ridic expensive...my maintenance is ridic too...don't see a penny of it! I reckon me & the megabus are going to be good friends. Cool are you going to PV? Sounds so good! I don't know what visits we will do...it's not exactly difficult for us though I suppose! You should def come down though.

Spending summer in London made me miss Yorkshire. You're getting the best of both worlds, I always thought London would be the best place to be, but you have to be on your feet all the time, up here (or down probably for you!) you can relax. You appreciate the little things when you don't have them! xx

  5. Awe...well we have nice places to come home to..small towns means everyone knows everyone. London is Very lonely. How many people are on your course? I have no idea about mine...enrolment will be inneresting. You should def come down...come see the Ballet Russes at the V&A! I need to see that. If you're struggling you could always crash with me for a night. Just let me know in advance if you want to! xx

  11. I am having the same dilemma as you lady! I DIY'd a tight stretchy maxi on the weekend and I think I might give this a shot next, something sheer and pink would be just perfect. It's spring here in Australia, but I find that these skirts can be styled in such a way that is perfect for warm weather too.

    Good luck in your hunt!

  12. I know exactly what you mean, I really want a long skirt but the ones in Zara seems to be a bit too expensive for what it's worth and I think I could just easily make one. Another thing that makes me desire it from a far away place is that long skirts aren't exactly practical in a country where it rains 80% of the time.
