Today's Outfit & Sale Shopping!

Finally managed to do some actual real life shopping today! I don't know if any of you have noticed but I buy practically everything online as I've got so used to not having the time to spend the day out shopping, so its always a bit of a treat for me to go out to do some proper shopping! And, really, you need to actually go out to a shop when you want to trawl through the sale rails and get some decent bargains, particularly when its Topshop as everything online sells out so quickly!

Anyway I thought that the weather today was going to be a bit grey and wet so I wore my new-ish khaki maxi dress and layered it with my loose-knit jumper. The weather turned out to be just as nice as it had been for the past couple of days though so I ended up feeling way too warm!

So I picked up a couple of things in the Topshop sale, first of all, this floral dress with a knot-back detail for £15. Its one of those things that doesn't look particularly special on the hanger but looks really nice on. I also think the shape has gone all wonky with being sat on the sale rail for a while so I'm gonna need to fiddle with it a bit ha!

The other piece I bought was this cream crochet vest dress from Topshop for £18. I think it'll look nice layered over a black slip dress with my usual black accessories.

Then finally I had a look in Dorothy Perkins and got these floral shorts for £12 that I'd seen in the sale online but they'd sold out in my size, but luckily they had a pair in store so I knew I had to have them.

I should hopefully be doing some more shopping in the next couple of weeks as I'm planning my wardrobe for when I go on holiday to Kos with some friends in 3 weeks time. I only have a 15kg suitcase weight limit, so I'm going to have to plan what I'm wearing really carefully and hopefully I won't end up doing my usual last-minute "I don't know what to wear!" panic haha!

Today's Outfit: Shrunken Dress and Ebay Fail!

Lovely sunny weather today so I threw on my dipped-hem midi dress this morning, only to find that it had shrunk by quite a few inches in the wash! So instead of it falling below my knees its now well above my knees! Thankfully because of the style of the dress it isn't particularly noticeable and it still looks nice, but it no longer covers my highly unattractive knees unfortunately! Oh well!

Anyway I paired it with just my denim gilet and new sandals from Urban Outfitters along with my usual accessories just to do a bit of shopping with my parents.

Also thought I'd say thank you to everyone who'd commented on my earlier post and left ebay tips, I definitely need them as I didn't win the shoes in the end ha! I was outbid at the very last second so obviously I was competing with someone who was a bit more pro than me unfortunately! Oh well, I'll only get better with practise I guess! :)

Yesterday's Outfit: Photo's in the Dark!

I went to the theatre last night to watch my sister in a dance show. It felt a bit weird to be sat in the audience watching it as pretty much every year I've taken part, for like 10 years, but I couldn't this year as it would be right in the middle of  my A-Levels and I wouldn't be able to do all the rehearsals, so I had to just leave it this year.

Anyway I decided to wear my Topshop slip dress and vintage blazer, so I felt a bit more dressed up but I didn't have time to take pictures early on in the day so I had to do them when I got back when it was dark.

At the moment I am trying to win a pair of Topshop wedges on ebay, although its unlikely that I will actually win them because I've never actually managed to win an item on ebay ever before, but heres to hoping! Do any of you have any tips or hints on how to win items on ebay?

Fashion Show Videos!

Here are the videos from the Fashion Show! Not the best quality ever but they were from my dad's phone, so apologies there, although I should be getting the DVD they've made at some point soon which should hopefully be of a much better quality.

Anyway the first video is of my Sculptural dress, this was the one I made during my week-long exam in May. I wasn't all that happy with it when I finished it but actually I think it looks a lot better on the catwalk, you get the overall impact of the shapes more.
The music is Cockney Violin by Caspa & Rusko.

And the one below is of my Rodarte inspired dress, this is my favourite just because the dress really works a lot better as a whole and I got to spend more time developing it.
The music is Drumming Song (Boy 8-Bit Remix) by Florence & The Machine.

Art and Textiles Exhibition

Sorry for not having posted this week, like I said in my last post I have been soooo busy these past few days and now I've finally had chance to have a bit of a rest! My exams are now OVER and I've also got the fashion show and exhibition out of the way so I now have the whole of summer to myself! Finally!

Anyway last night was my Art and Textiles exhibition and although I had a bit of a shit time I've got some pictures to show you all anyway. Most normal people would probably feel quite pleased and proud of themselves for finishing their A-Levels and having their work shown but I just felt like it was a real anti-climax after the ridiculous amount of work I've put in over the past two years. Having said that I was very happy to leave and I actually can't wait to get to uni now and show everyone who didn't think I'd be able to do it just how successful I can be!

Right, so below are pictures from my Textiles exhibition, it took me and my dad HOURS to put up because I kept having to swap everything around but I still wasnt happy with it, but that's the curse of being a perfectionist I guess!

Sketchbook, sample and photos from my Sculptural Fashion project:

I forgot to take pictures of my actual garments which was a bit stupid but you can kind of see my sculptural one on the left of the picture that I'm in. The photos of me in my dresses aren't very clear as I missed the session when we had one of the photography students took pictures for us so I had to get the art technician to do them for me. She did a good job but we didn't have very much time so they didn't come out as well as I would have liked :( Also my sculptural dress had kind of fallen apart when it was taken off the mannequin and I didn't have time to fix it so it ended up looking even more shit haha!

And below is my Art exhibition, this one was a lot easier to put up as I had a whole board, rather than just half a board that we got in Textiles. I'm a lot happier with this one because it just works better as a whole.

So there you go a whole years work on a couple of boards! Anyway I was going to get pictures from my Fashion Show that was on Wednesday night but my camera ran out of battery! Boo! But my dad filmed me coming down the catwalk on his phone so once I can nick his phone and upload the videos somewhere I'll post them here for you to watch if you want to!

P.S. Just wanted to say thank you SO much to all of you for following and commenting on here, it really makes my day when I read all of your lovely comments particularly if I'm having a rubbish day so it really makes me feel a lot better! And also thank you for sticking around while I haven't been able to post very much, now I have a LOT of free time on my hands I'm going to make sure I post as much as possible, so stay tuned!!! :)

Today's Outfit: Barbeque Time!

I went to a barbeque today, not a particularly cool or trendy one mind you, as it was for a charity that my parents are involved in and a lot of the people there are middle-aged and kind of pompous (its a medical charity, so a lot of them are quite privileged, wealthy GP's and Consultants and although my dad is also a GP, he's really not one of the particularly wealthy or privileged ones) but, to be fair, there are some very nice people there too so I ended up having a really nice time in the end. And anyway it was a choice between the barbeque with nice food and sunshine or stay at home on my own and attempt to revise, so yeah not particularly a difficult decision really!

Anyway as I got ready quite quickly I went for something reasonably simple, just a super girly floral sun dress and my denim sleeveless jacket with my usual opaque tights, boots and other accessories, although I did go for a different bag which is just one of those cross-body quilted ones that everyone seems to have so I try not to wear it too much really anymore, but I only really needed a little bag and I thought it would work with how I'd sort of toughened-up the really girly floral dress with denim and black accessories.

Also just thought I'd let you all know that I'm going to have a pretty busy week next week, as I've got to put up my art and textiles exhibitions tomorrow, as well as revise for my (last!!!) exam on Tuesday morning which will then be followed by rehearsals for the Fashion Show we're doing for textiles. Then the actual Fashion Show itself is on Wednesday night with rehearsals again all day for that, while my art and textiles exhibitions are then on Thursday night! So, yeah, I'm gonna be a bit busy! However I will try to post as much as I can with photos from the Fashion Show and exhibition through the week, but I'll just have to see what I can fit in!

Today's Outfit: Grungy and Hungover!

I had to go into college today to go to a business revision session as well as put up my Textiles exhibition, although I didn't put it up in the end as I felt like I needed the weekend to kind of plan what I was going to do with it, so I'll be doing it on Monday along with my Art exhibition. Hopefully will get some pictures of the final exhibits to show you all!

Anyway, I really would have very much preferred to have stayed at home today and had a nice lie-in as I'd been out last night and had a few too many glasses of rose wine proceeded by quite a bit of vodka  so I was suitably hung-over today!

So as I wasn't in the best of moods this morning I went for a simple, grungy sort of look which consisted of my new Metallica tee that I got in the Urban Outfitters sale a couple of days ago, my high-waisted denim shorts and parka. I'd also painted my nails black yesterday so I though that tied in nicely with my "I'm a metalhead" look haha!

Yesterday's Day Out (Warning: Lots of Pictures!)

As it was a lovely day yesterday my mum, dad, sister and I went out for the day to Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales. It's this lovely ruined old abbey next to the river Wharfe with lots of lovely long walks, amidst some really beautiful scenery. If I'm honest we went out so that we could try to avoid the whole World Cup thing that was going on yesterday, although inevitably we couldn't avoid it altogether because of all the England flags and t-shirts and all the various pubs showing it on the TV. One pub we went to was having a wedding reception where they were all watching the football on an absolutely massive screen during the reception, which I thought was actually really awful! When I get married, I can't imagine the idea of everyone being more interested in the football than what's supposed to be like one of "the happiest days of your life" but I suppose its all down to personal preference really? What do you think?

Anyway we had such a nice day and we took quite a few pictures so I thought I'd show you some of them! First of all we went to this lovely little tea room and had a cup of tea and some cake before we set off round the abbey.

Me and my sister had this amaaazing dark chocolate cake with clotted cream, which was ridiculously yummy!

Then we went off for a walk next to the river and my dad and sister ended up being very chilidish and started skimming stones hah!

We then went round the abbey and the church which was again really beautiful, and we also had a walk through the graveyard too.

And here's me and my sister crossing the stepping stones in the river. Look at my pathetically girly attempt at keeping my balance haha!

It was actually really a bit scary going across the stepping stones because the water was really quite deep once you got to the middle and the stones were actually quite far apart! It also didn't help that there was a random man at the other side filming us asking one of us to please fall in to make his video more interesting!! HA! No thanks! But on a serious note a little boy had actually died in this river only around a week ago when he'd got sucked in by the currents, so it was really sad to see all the flowers left near where he'd died. You might have heard it in the news, those of you in the UK maybe?

Anyway on a much, much lighter note, look at what the cows were doing! They all wandered over to have a drink from the river, it was just soo cute!

This cow was just like "Oi! Bugger off, I'm trying to have a drink here!" Haha!

Oh and also baby birds! Eeeeeee so cute!!

Then the last place we went to was this place called "the strid". It's where the river goes through this really narrow point and apparently it's actually 30 feet deep at this point when it's only about 4 feet wide! Now that scares me, and apparently people have died trying to jump across it? You have got to be completely insane to do such a thing!

Just look at how black that water is!!

So yeah, that was basically my day out! A nice walk, some nice food, and being scared of very deep water! What have you all been doing now that the weather is nicer? I definitely recommend that you visit somewhere local to you like a castle or an abbey because it really is a lovely day out when the weather's nice!

P.S. Wow this post is reeeeally long! I had such a good day and there were so many nice photos to share though, so I'm very sorry if some of them don't show up or the sheer volume of them crashes someones computer! Again very sorry!!!! :)
